Comments regarding Allen's 298-CLA (POT-B) math course: As a Computer Engineering student interested in fields that require a strong math foundation (Computational Science & Deep Learning), the combination of ECE 298 followed by ECE 493 provided me with the intuition required to approach these topics. The outline and pace of the course initially scared me: it felt like 5 math courses packed into one. However, Professor Allen only covered the essentials from each topic, allowing for students to be exposed to topics that are often only covered in multiple 400 level math courses. The history of the mathematicians behind these topics is also taught alongside the equations, which was my favorite part of these courses. It created a link between these topics that is often ignored in most courses. I would highly recommend this course for anyone that has taken the initial math sequence (Calculus & Linear Algebra) and wants to build intuition when it comes to approaching math problems.
